The first Major of the year the Captain’s Cup was held at Springfield with 27 members and 3 guests taking part
The overall winner of the Captain’s Cup for 2025 and taking his place on the Honours Board with, given the circumstances what was probably one of his best rounds for some time returning 38 Stableford points, was one of HHGS’ long standing members PETER ADAMS.
The A & B layout, a true Jack Nicklaus design, proved to be a real challenge with its length (even from the White and Red tee boxes) and cleverly placed hazards with some really thick secondary rough.
Scoring was generally difficult even given we were blessed with the weather – warm and humid but no rain – and the final scores of the 3 flights/divisions reflected this with only 2 of the field returning under par scores for the round.
Winning A flight was Sylvia Gabil with 33 points
Winning B flight was Andy Lewis, pictures left, with a strong 37 points
Winning C flight was David Buchan, pictured right, with 35 points
The awards were given during the fully subsidized 3 course dinner at Coco 51 by the Sea in the evening with 38 members and guests being treated to great food and service throughout. A great day and fantastic evening were enjoyed by all.
